UNINSTALL

If you no longer wish to have the toolbar, we make it easy to uninstall. Please be advised, however, that if you uninstall the toolbar you may lose unlimited access to products created by Make The Web Better, which include:

FIREFOX DEFAULT SEARCH

I am a Firefox user and continue to see Fast Browser Search as my default search provider, even though I have changed it to another search provider in a previous browser session. How do I make the change permanently?

If you would like to make this change, simply click on the drop down arrow next to the logo in your toolbar, then click on "Toolbar Options", and then uncheck the box next to "Keep Fast Browser Search as my default search provider". Here is what you should see:

IE8 DEFAULT SEARCH

I have Internet Explorer 8 and have removed the Fast Browser Search toolbar and Search Guard Plus. Why is Fast Browser Search still my default search provider?

When you downloaded Search Guard Plus in Internet Explorer 8, you agreed to allow us to "prevent programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider".

How do I change my default search provider to someone else?

If you would like to change your default search provider, it is easy. In your browser:

  • Click "Tools"
  • Click "Manage Add-Ons"
  • Click "Search Providers"
  • Click on the search provider that you would prefer
  • Click "Set as default"

I would also like to change the setting which prevents programs from suggesting changes to my default search provider. How do I do that?

TABS

I no longer want Fast Browser Search as my default tab provider. How do I remove it?

You can remove Fast Browser Search as your default tab provider by removing the Fast Browser Search toolbar (and, if you installed Search Guard Plus, then by removing Search Guard Plus and the Search Guard Plus Updater, as well).

I uninstalled the Fast Browser Search toolbar and Search Guard Plus, but Fast Browser Search is still my default tab provider. What should I do now?

If you are still seeing Fast Browser Search as your default tab provider, please re-start your computer. This should remove it.

What is Search Guard Plus?

Search Guard Plus and its affiliated product, the Search Guard Plus Updater (collectively, "Search Guard Plus"), provide you with an added level of online security.

  • For browsers other than IE 8, Search Guard Plus alerts you if a third-party is attempting to change your default search provider.
  • For IE 8 browsers, Search Guard Plus prevents third-party programs from suggesting changes to your default search provider.
  • For all browsers, Search Guard Plus (through its affiliation with Fast Browser Search) provides relevant search results in response to misspelled or incorrectly formatted browser address requests.
  • For all browsers, Search Guard Plus potentially provides important updates to the Fast Browser Search toolbar.

Search Guard Plus does not contain any spyware, adware or malware.
